McDonald's WWC22

McDonald’s WWC22

This under-the-sea nugget box was a particularly fun challenge… to get this 2D clam shell to close… and look 3D. To achieve this, I used Paths to Nulls so that I could determine a specific path for the corners to travel in, mimicking that three quarter angle rotation of the lid. This was pre-comped and in the main comp, I gave it more character with an anticipation wiggle and some good ol’ squash-n-stretch.

This was a massive team effort to get a LOT of content made in 4 weeks. The McDonald’s World Wide Conference was a four-day event and we needed to fill the first 2 hours of each day with content… across 11 screens on the main stage!

In order to hit our deadline, we made sure to make some of our animations modular so we could pass things to other animators. So in this animation, I made an individual comp of the spinning soda cup so others could use that without having to spend time animating it again.

Frame-by-frame test for the coffee steam. I ended up using wave warp for the final steam, but I liked the frame-by-frame test.

*Anne Calandre animated the ice cream cone at the end/loop point

Just part of the on-site team. We spent a lot of stressful late nights pulling this off in a cold conference warehouse. But look at all those smiles!
